Bout Whatever

I’m bout whatever.

I’m from Baton Rouge, Louisiana… When  you hear the term, “I’m bout whatever” that usually means you are willingly to do whatever it takes to get your point across. There’s no boundary or no extent you won’t go. Whatever needs to be done will be done to prove your point. In my “Wilderness Days” I was an “I’m bout whatever” type person. When my mind was made up to do something, I would do whatever it takes.

When I dedicated my life to Jesus, one of my initial phrases would be, “I will do whatever you want me to do Lord”. I thank God that though I became a new creation in Christ, my “I’m bout whatever” attitude was cultivated in him; however, I can’t help but notice that everyone doesn’t share this attitude. Whether it through how they were raised, an un-renewed mind, hardened heart, previous religious preconceptions, immaturity, etc… There’s stipulations attached to their serving, desires and understanding. I’m not here to bash anyone who currently has this mind frame, but enlighten you there’s humility attached to an attitude that’s willing to say, “Lord, I’m bout whatever”.  There’s freedom in that statement to let go our your motives, out ideas and understanding to do whatever God ask of you. More than obedience, it’s a conscious to rely on God’s decision more than your own. What if your desire is to be a Pastor, and God’s desire for you in this season is to serve the Pastor, are you bout whatever? Are you willingly to do it even if it doesn’t fit your “best interest”? Are you willingly to say it to keep a brother or sister in Christ from stumbling in their walk? What if your desire is walk out that job, but God tells you no… “are you bout whatever”?

Paul states it this way,  Colossians 3:17 AMP, “Whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus [and in dependence on Him], giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”  I’m fully convinced God desires children with a “whatever you do” persona for him…

Are you willing to remove your understanding, your desires, even your thoughts for God in whatever you do? If your answer is yes… You are Bout Whatever.
