The Value Of The Sower

Matthew 6:25 – 26, “ Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

Jesus has given these verses to re-prioritize our focus, confirm our value to God and to eventually establish proper priorities in verse 33. I’ve read these verse dozens of times, but last night in my brother Mike Carter’s Kingdom Billionaire Class an illumination was giving that flooded my heart instantly.

In verse 25, Jesus is instructing us to not worry about our life! Mediate on that… Don’t worry about your life. Provision has been established, so you don’t have to worry about your life. Here’s what blew my mind; verse 26, he makes a comparison to confirm our value. The birds of the air are taken care and they don’t sow nor reap. Can I ask you a question here? Why would Jesus add sowing and reaping to highlight provision for us and confirm our value? God provides provision to birds without them sowing nor reaping; so, how valuable are we to him that are able to sow and reap, and how valuable is the principle of sowing and reaping in the Kingdom of God?

In scriptures concerning provision and establishing proper priorities by seeking first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, Jesus is indicating the importance of sowing and reaping. Could Jesus be indicating that sowing and reaping is beneficial and also a method to remove worrying in the life of a believer? Now before the theologians who opposed anything relating to prosperity and provision begin to throw stones, we can agree that Jesus is establishing that provision isn’t a problem with these verses? That provision will be taken care of if we follow Matthew 6:33? So, if provision is taken care of, if we follow Matthew 6:33, then we should also agree according to these verses, sowing is not only valuable, but also a system to prosper us!

Jesus is highlighting the value of us to God and also the value in us having the method to sow and reap.
