Check Your Thinking 2
Philippians 4:8 - 9 NLT, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.”
Peace is the promise, but there’s pre-requisites to obtain it… and that’s checking your thoughts. Peace and your thinking goes hand and hand. We all desire peace. Our objective to obtain it may be different but it is one of our main desires in life; and the remedy to obtain peace begins with what you think about! Throughout scripture this is confirmed, but can I share with you some verses?
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Fear causing worrying, worrying removes peace, but do you see the remedies for fear? Power, Love and a Sound mind. A Sound Mind is a remedy to produce peace.
Philippians 4:6 -7, NIV “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Prayer, petition and thanksgiving removes anxiousness which is worry, uneasiness and nervousness. The byproduct of the removal of anxiousness is peace.
Isaiah 26:3 NKJV, “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.”
If our minds stay on God… If our thoughts stay on God out of trust for him the result is peace! Let’s check our thinking brothers and sisters and once our thoughts are checked receive the promise from it… Peace.
